Renewed Aladja, Ogbe-Ijoh crisis claims Policeman

Speculations are rife that a Police Sergeant may have been shot dead in the renewed crisis that have erupted over disputed land between Aladja Community in Udu Local Government Area and Ogbe-Ijoh Community in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Unconfirmed report says youths from Aladja Community reportedly attacked Ogbe-Ijoh at about 3am Friday June 2, but were repelled by Ogbe-Ijoh youths with the help of Police Officers attached to maintain peace at the Ogbe-Ijoh end of the disputed boundary.

While rumours continue to swell that the Policeman was shot dead in the fresh crisis that purportedly began in the wee hours of Friday June 2, the Police Public Relations Officer of Delta State Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka in a telephone chat with Fresh Angle International at about 6:30pm Friday June 2, said, “no Policeman was shot dead, but a Police Sergeant was injured and he is recuperating. The Police are on ground and have been reinforced in-terms of numbers”.

It was also alleged that a Christian Cleric was shot at Ogbe-Ijoh in the renewed attack, even as several gun-shots were fired between suspected Agbasa youths in Warri and traders at Ogbe-Ijoh Market, Warri between Thursday afternoon (yesterday) and the early hours of today, Friday June 2.

Indications that the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh crisis might not end anytime soon emerged following the submission of conflicting reports to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa by the committee set up to look into the crisis couple of months ago by the Okowa administration.
