As part of efforts to build the capacity of teachers across secondary schools in Delta State, a Non-Governmental Organization, Jewel of Africa Foundation has trained 44 teachers from secondary schools in Warri South and South-West Local Government Areas, Fresh Angle International can report.
The programme which was facilitated by Chevron Nigeria Limited in collaboration with Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta, PIND, focused on 21st Century Noble Teaching Technics for enhancing of teaching and learning in public schools.
Our Senior Correspondent reports that the training lasted for two weeks and was rounded off Friday August 24 at PIND Office, Egbokodo in Warri, Delta State.
In his remark, a facilitator in the programme, Mr. Olayinka Thomas, commended the teachers for the resilience they displayed during the training, adding that four categories of award was listed. The categories were: Platinum, Gold, Diamond and Bronze.
The participants reportedly made over 70 percent in their performance and were rewarded with Platinum.
The General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, PGPA, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Mr. Esimaje Brikkin while speaking during the graduation ceremony of the 44 teachers, stressed that NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture has spent over N20 Billion through the Global Memorandum of Understanding, GMoU within communities around its areas of operation in Delta State and beyond.
According to him, Chevron has about 600 programmes which focus on provision of scholarships, building of new schools, procurement of medical facilities as well as housing, just as he quipped that the Oil and Gas Major has also supported agricultural development, powered water projects as well as ongoing surgical theatre/call rooms amongst other capital projects.
Mr. Brikkin who was represented by the Manager PGPA, Warri, Mr. Sam Daibo revealed that between 2007 and 2016, over 2, 900 Nigerian students benefited from the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture National Scholarship Scheme, adding that Star Deep, a Chevron company and its partners in the Agbami Field have awarded over 16, 000 scholarships for Engineers and Medical Professionals from 2009 till date.
The Warri PGPA Area Manager, noted that over 11,300 students have also benefited from the NNPC/Chevron JV’s communities’ scholarships from 2008/2009 to 2017/2018 academic sessions.
He lauded Delta State government and other relevant stakeholders for providing enabling environment for the company to operate and roll out its corporate social responsibility as well as community engagement ingenuity.
Mr. Daibo commended the teachers for the seriousness they displayed during the training and charged them to implement the knowledge gained in the course of their teaching career.

Fresh Angle International can report that Mr. Solomon Edah, Mrs. Lawreta Oribioye and some other teachers that participated in the training titled, 21st Century Nobel Teaching (Advanced Teachers Training), expressed joy and praised CNL for giving them the opportunity, just as they appealed for more teachers and schools to be added subsequently.
Others who spoke included: representatives of Chief Inspector of Education, CIE, Uvwie, Mr. David Omijeh, Tonwe Helen, Mike Ekpe and Principal of Egbokodo Secondary School, Mr. Emmanuel Oleju.
