Men of the Mobile Unit of Nigeria Police Force attached to the popular God’s Grace Ministry, in Warri at about 10:15 pm on Monday September 9 at the church headquarters in Arubaye Street molested one Mr. Layefa, threatened him with gun- running allegation and seized his Toyota Camry car for purportedly wandering late in the night, Fresh Angle can exclusively report.
The victim, Layefa who was assaulted and the buttons of his shirt torn into shreds by the mobile policemen told Our Senior Correspondent that he was driving from his father’s compound at 17 Omorege street close to the God’s Grace Ministry, GGM with his Toyota Camry car when one of the mobile policemen stopped him and told him that the gate leading to the street is locked and that the key is with some area boys.
The victim who immediately went to the supposed area boys to get the key to the gate was shocked when the same boys told him that the policemen are the ones with the key.On returning to the mobile policemen, they directed Layefa to hand his own key which also has his house keys to them.
According to Mr. Layefa, in a bid to remove his house key from the bunch of keys, one of the mobile policemen slapped him, while his colleagues tore 3 of his buttons in his long sleeve shirt, cut his gold necklace and molested him before allowing him to go without his keys that night.
Layefa explained that not even a plea from a female tenant of his father could persuade the armed policemen to give him his keys and he had to break his door later that night before he could gain access to his house.
Our Senior Correspondent reports that as at 7:30am the following day when Layefa visited the premises of God‘s Grace Ministry, one of the mobile policemen identified simply as Victor Balogun told him that but for the church, he would have framed him up with gun- running.
They allegedly told him that if they put one locally made pistol in his vehicle whether he can defend it, reminding him of situations where mobile policemen shot their colleagues without any consequences.
Fresh Angle can however report that the mobile policemen later return Mr. Layefa’s keys to him the following day following interventions by some well meaning individuals.
