Fresh: Key staff of Wetland Bank Warri arrested after robbers ambush

Fresh facts have emerged from inside sources that at-least four officials of Wetland Micro Finance Bank, the bank whose officials were attacked by armed robbers Monday November 18 in Warri have been arrested.

Wetland Micro Finance Bank staff of Okumagba Avenue by Deco already arrested include the bank driver who drove the car that conveyed the stolen money, the Branch Manager of the bank, its Human Resource Manager and other key officials of the same branch where the N 10 million was being taken to and they are presently undergoing police interrogation.

Fresh Angle has also learnt that the mobile policeman killed in the armed robbers ambush, Sergeant Aliyu Musa may have died without any possible compensation because he ought not to have escorted the bank officials to the Okumagba Avenue branch of United Bank of Africa UBA, where they went to collect the N 10 million which we gathered was issued as cheque to Wetland Micro Finance Bank.

While there are anxiety among staff of Wetland Micro Finance Bank in their far away Ovwian branch that some of them might also be arrested following the bank robbery, there has been no report of any arrest of UBA officials from where the money was withdrawn.

Indications are also rife that while Wetland Micro Finance Bank may recover its stolen N 10 million due to insurance of its cash, its severely injured staff, Joseph who is still in coma 48 hours after he was shot on his stomach by the dare devil armed robbers and his female colleague whose hand was shot will have to pray for survival as there are no insurance cover for them.

Fresh Angle also gathered that the mobile policeman who died in the raid, Sergeant Aliyu Musa had to leave his duty post at Wetland Micro Finance Bank premises in Okumagba Avenue due to a paltry N 1,000 incentive for the short trip.

We can also report that incidences of trailing of bank customers from commercial banks after withdrawing large sums of money is beginning to reach fever pitch in the twin cities of Warri and Effurun. Only last month, a customer who withdrew large sums of money at a UBA branch in Warri was trailed to the popular Okere market square and successfully dispossessed of his money by gunmen.
