Describing Chelsea’s start to the 2015/2016 Barclays English Premier League, EPL Season as shambolic and embarrassing coming on the heels of winning a double last season, including winning last season’s EPL with three matches to spare will be stating the obvious.

Records show that Chelsea’s poor start to this season is the club’s worst in the last 27 years and strange phenomenon in the Roman Abramovich era as well as the career of haughty Portuguese born soccer tactician, Jose Mourinho.

Not many will agree, but it must be noted that The Blues had late pre-season preparations and the players did not have enough time to get full match fitness before they were defeated by Arsenal in the FA Community Shield, thus badly affecting their ego, no thanks also to the near loss to Swansea in their first EPL game of the season.

Followers of happenings at Stamford Bridge would be surprised at the unusual silence of Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich over the The Blues’ poor performance, especially against the backdrop of the fact that Jose Mourinho signed a fresh contract extension at the club during the beginning of the 2015/2016 Season, even after the shocking pre-season performances, including the FA Community Shield. More worrisome is the refusal of Abramovich to openly back Jose Mourinho, let alone make any public statement despite the defending EPL Champion strangely seating down the ladder of the EPL log.

There is however indications that the uneasy calm at Chelsea between Jose Mourinho and the club owner, Roman Abramovich on one part and the Chelsea Boss and the players on the other end would soon snowball into open accusations and counter accusations.

The body language of Russian Billionaire, Abramovich strongly suggests that he is no longer willing to release the cheque book for Jose Mourinho to make ‘World Class’ additions to the squad, preferring to build on the rising financial fortune of his investment since buying over the club.

The frustrating inflating of cost of transfer of players to Chelsea from rival and smaller clubs is not helping the situation and Jose Mourinho who appears to favour the addition of not less than three high profile players to the club is not finding the situation funny. This perhaps led him to take unfit Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco instead of his preferred Zlatan Ibrahimovic or any other in-form striker as replacement for Didier Drogba.

That also accounts for why the club went for less fancied names, since preferred names, including Everton’s John Stones became out of reach. While Jose seem to have lost his tactical depth, the poor performance of virtually all Chelsea players, particularly those in the midfield have exposed the team’s defensive frailties and lack of fully fit strikers.

As it stands, Chelsea can only boast of near half fit strikers like Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao,  even as it is not clear while Jose prefers to continuously sideline the injury prone, but young energetic Loic Remy.

Unless The Blues bounce back early enough and make immediate impact in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup, the bubble would soon burst at the Bridge and Jose might exit the club in an inglorious manner.
