An Itsekiri group, Iwere Development Initiative, IDI has absolved the Executive Director of Research, Planning and Statistics in the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Engr. Victor Wood, of involvement in purported petition written to the EFCC against the immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, the member representing Warri North Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Diden as well as the current Member Representing Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality in the Board of DESOPADEC, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi.

IDI in a statement signed by its Chairman, Misan Tsegbeyeri, Secretary, Clifford Abeson, berated those accusing Engr. Victor Wood of conniving with legal luminary, Prof. Itse Sagay to petition the afore-stated personalities to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, noting that “even though Engr. Victor Wood is a member of Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, ILOT, he has never met Prof. Itse Sagay let alone connive with him to petition Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Hon. Michael Diden and others to the EFCC.”

According to the group, those behind the allegation were “hell bent on tarnishing the impeccable reputation of Engr. Wood against the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Itsekiri Nation and the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli.”

They asserted that it was absurd to link the DESOPADEC Executive Director of Research, Planning and Statistics to petitions written by the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, ILOT or any other group “when it is public knowledge that prior to Engr. Wood’s appointment into the Board of DESOPADEC, petitions were written against the former Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Hon. Michael Diden and others by the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, ILOT and the elite Itsekiri group has never stopped writing petitions or issuing press statements on issues that affect Itsekiri Nation, whether it concerns DESOPADEC or any other government  MDAs”.
