Delta community decries state of bad roads, electricity blackout

Business

Despite the continuous out-cry of the absence of good roads by people of Ekete Community in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State, the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC may have refused to heed to the urgent need to fix the deplorable state of roads in the area, even as members of the community continue to suffer electricity blackout in what they described as insensitivity of Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC.

Speaking to newsmen in Ekete, The President General of Ekete Community, Comrade Patrick Ebo, said one of roads in the community was approved by NDDC but the contractor, Engr. Uduaghan (Jr.) has refused to commence work.

Apart from the total blackout in the community and entire Udu Local Government Area since October, 2015, Comrade Patrick Ebo said the situation is even more frustrating because the community is playing host to BEDC and even donated two parcels of land to the company in the past, yet the community has not been able to get any form of recognition in terms of employment and other forms of corporate social responsibility.
