Business

I find it very distasteful and disheartening to employ public space to respond to your obloquy contained in the Vanguard Newspaper of Thursday 26th May 2016 at pages 8 and 9 on behalf of your new pay master, High Chief Government Ekpemuopolo aka Tompolo, a fugitive on the run from Justice which you described in your former publications in various despicable words as a “scoundrel and bandit, out to destroy our commonwealth”.

I am compelled to write you this letter so as to point out that you have since lost your posture as a steadfast, courageous and resolute man, valiant doughty for the people. You lost it the day you took that ill- fated trip to Gbaramantu in December 2015 to confer with your new pay master whom you now dressed-up in the ill-fitting garb of a freedom fighter.

There is no denying the fact that the Gbaramatu trip was very rewarding in financial terms as you are now a proud owner of a brand new car and for once, you no longer owe your existence to loan sharks, but be reminded of the immortal words of Warren Buffet who opined “That we should always look out for 3 things in a person- intelligence,  energy and integrity, If they don't have the last one, don't even bother with the first one,” It does seem to me because of your love for filthy lucre, you have thrown your integrity away to the dust.

Perhaps, it will not be out of place to remind you of what brought you to this sorry state. Recall your approach to me that I should set up a meeting with Chief Ayirimi Emami wherein you requested for the sum of N5million being the cost of publications you made in favour  of the APC against Tompolo in the Vanguard Newspaper and your misplaced anger when your financial request was turned down.

Also recall how you dreamt of being a major player in the oil and gas industry and how your hopes were dashed, when Mr. President appointed Dr. Ibe Kachikwu to your chagrin which necessitated your diatribe “Why I am now disenchanted with APC” of 22 January 2016 in the Vanguard Newspaper, after your Gbaramantu trip in which you renounced your membership of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.

It will be needless to point out that your infamous career started with Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan praise singing, then you moved into Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, fought Ogboru, Tompolo, Adolo Okotie Eboh before Tompolo finally settled you at the Gbaramatu trip late December 2015. You therefore returned from the trip a “changed man politically, financially and ideologically”.

The question discerning Deltans are asking is who is your next target? What is the motivation for a young man who claim to be a lawyer to call a First Class Senior Member of the Bar with rich family pedigree of the profession and world acclaimed technocrat in the person of Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, The Group Managing Director (GMD) and Hon. Minister of Petroleum Resources (State) as “being incompetent and bereft of ideas”.

My brother, you displayed high level self pity  and made yourself a laughing stock and I am sure your venerable father (may his soul continue to rest in peace) will turn in his grave when you referred to the Honourable Minister as incompetent and bereft of ideas.

For starters, those who are incompetent and bereft of ideas do not graduate with First Class Degree at the University of Nigeria, The Nigeria Law School and indeed Harvard University. Certainly such a man you refer to as incompetent will not rise to the top of the global oil and gas industry as Executive Vice Chairman, ExxonMobil.

My Brother, How will a man you said is bereft of ideas engineer the positive changes in the oil and gas industry, the NNPC and lead the charge in the fight of the subsidy Cabal to standstill by removing the oil subsidy?

Envy, they say can drive men to act in senseless ways, thus I recall the words of the conspirators in Williams Shakespeare's Julius Ceaser “How can a man of such a feeble temper get the start of the world and bear the palm alone”.

You further went off the mark when you sensationally and senselessly accuse “the Honourable Minister of State, Petroleum Resources of engaging the services of Chief Ayirimi Emami’ s cronies as Special Assistants”. Nothing can be further than the truth. The whole truth is that the Honourable Minister being a world acclaimed technocrat saddled with onerous task and responsibilities had in his wisdom engaged the services of 3 Assistants to handle political matters in his home State, Delta so as to enable him concentrate on his enormous task of re-engineering the oil and gas industry for better service delivery. He appointed three persons from each of the Senatorial District to wit:

1. Olorogun Jaro Egbo, Delta Central Senatorial District
2. Hon. Kenneth Efejuku, Delta South Senatorial District
3. Hon Gabriel Okpuno, Delta North Senatorial District

The raison d’etre for the appointment can be situated in the sense that each State are constitutionally entitled to produce a Minister of the Federal Republic, whose qualification shall be equivalent to that of a member of the House of Representatives. This constitutional provision gives a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria a political responsibility over the State he represents in the Federal Executive Council. Our appointment thus was based in all modesty on our political pedigree and we were not surprised when it was rumoured that the Honourable Minister was nursing Political ambition, which also is far from the truth.

We are not unaware of the promise made to you that you will be appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff to Tompolo sidekick, Deputy Governor of Delta State, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, please be reminded of the time tested aphorism “those who ride the tiger will end up in its belly”.

My advice to you as a brother is that why you are free to bootlick your new paymasters, I implore you not to set our ethnic nationalities against each other by disrespecting their sensitivities. I do hope you will come to your senses in no distant future and apologize for your indiscretion going forward.

I wish you well
