The Commander 61 NAF Detachment, Nigeria Airforce, Warri, Air Commodore Sani Zakari says the command achieved its aim in this year’s annual 10 kilometre walk/jog exercise organized across Airforce formations in the country.

Air Commodore Zakari made the assertion weekend during a reception after the 10 kilometre walk/jog exercise at their base in Osubi Airport, near Warri, Delta State.

He said he was very happy that no casualty was recorded during the 10km walk/jog exercise and commended his officers and men for their cooperation.

The Airforce Chief expressed delight that the exercise started as scheduled and terminated at the stipulated time, noting that it was a win-win situation. He commended other military and security/civilians who participated in the 10km walk/jog exercise for their support.

The Commander, Nigeria Navy Ship Warri, Navy Commodore Raimi Mohammed lauded Air Commodore Zakari for organizing his officers/men and other security agencies/ civilians in making the annual 10km walk/ jog exercise successful.

Navy Commodore Mohammed said that the exercise has also shown that there’s a good military, civil relation in Delta State, because both participated cordially with mutual respect.

The Chairman Planning Committee for the 10km walk, Wing Commander Martina Ede appreciated Air Commodore Zakari for putting the event together, describing it as the best of its kind in the command.

Speaking earlier, the Public Relations Officer 61 NAF Detachment, Warri, Flying Officer, Bayem explained that the essence of the exercise was to keep officers/men of the Nigeria Airforce fit and ever ready at all times to face the numerous security challenges facing the country whenever called upon.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that the 10km walk/jogging exercise featured representatives from Nigeria Customs, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Vehicle Inspection Office, VIO, Delta State Traffic Management Agency, DESTMA, Area Command Nigeria Police Warri, members of the Press, representative of the Commander 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Benin City, Edo State, Brigadier General Faruk Yaya, represented by Major Monday Anzaku of 3 Rear Battalion as well as Effurun Barracks representative of GLO, Airtel, GTB and UBA.

Awards were later presented to 1st joggers Flying Officer P. Edward, 2nd price went to Flying Officer Bayem, 3rd price to Flight Lt. Umar Bat, Female Officer walk went to Wing Commander Ede, the wife of the Commander, 61 NAF and Chairperson 61 NAF Nigeria Airforce Officers Wife Association NAFOWA, Mrs. Asmau Zakari for participating.
