The newly elected member representing Warri South Constituency 1 in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Mrs.) Shola Ogbemi Daibo has promised to initiate legislation against extra judicial killings by security agencies and all those involved in unwarranted murder of innocent citizens.

The lawmaker gave the assurance Friday May 19 at Ifiekporo in Warri South Local Government Area when she paid condolence visit to the family of Agbolu, an Itsekiri youth who was recently shot dead by an unidentified Naval Personnel deployed to protect the NPDC Jetty at Ifiekporo.

While expressing shock at the unprovoked murder of Agbolu and a youth from Ekpan community by the Naval Personnel, Mrs. Daibo appealed to the youths to remain peaceful.

The Chairman of Ifiekporo Community Trust, Clifton Edema while briefing the lawmaker, alleged that the agenda of security agents posted to guide NNPC and its subsidiaries’ facilities was to depopulate Ifiekporo community.

According to Edema, between December 2016 and May 2017, “uniform men have fired 10 gunshots, killing five people and injuring five”.

He appealed to Hon. Daibo to initiate measures that will lead to the withdrawal of military men from Ifiekporo Community as well as assist in the employment of indigenes of the community by the IOCs operating in Ifiekporo.

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Youth Development, Ambassador Hope George commended the member representing Warri Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju for “raising a motion, calling for investigation of the killing of Agbolu and the Ekpan Youth by Naval Personnel”.
