The Kogi State Chapter of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has described insinuations that it intends to scuttle the ongoing recruitment of doctors into the Kogi State Civil Service by Governor Bello as baseless and unfounded.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr. Godwin Tijani, and made available to newsmen in Lokoja Monday June 19, NMA noted that it never directed any doctor not to take appointment with the state as the association is clamoring for more doctors because of the inadequate manpower available.
Dr. Tijani explained that NMA only advised the state government on the timing of the exercise and the motives, noting that the recruitment is coming at the critical time doctors are on strike over non-payment of salary and other entitlements.
He dismissed the allegation of partisanship by the NMA and cautioned Medical Officers who are hypocritical by attending interview for the recruitment process to be ready to make some sacrifices because of what is on ground.
Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that the NMA Chairman averred that the association was open to dialogue with a view to solving the industrial disharmony in the health sector.
