Delta State IRS moves to annex revenue from informal sector through tech solutions, deploys Nicolex Technologies

The Delta State Internal Revenue Service, DIRS, has begun moves to annex revenue from the informal sector through tech solutions, Fresh Angle International, has gathered.

As parts of strategies to achieve the intended target in Delta South Senatorial District, the leadership of DIRS, has reportedly deployed one of Nigeria’s fastest growing informal sector revenue technology firm, Nicolex Technologies.

This Newspaper understands that the formal adoption of Nicolex Technologies by DIRS, held Wednesday December 13 at the headquarters of the State Internal Revenue office in Warri, Delta State.

The technology, was adopted to provide digital solution to support the appointed Consultant - Wyse & Co, to harness all informal sector as well as property taxes within the senatorial district, comprising Warri South, Warri North, Warri South-West, Isoko North, Isoko South, Burutu, Bomadi and Patani Local Government Areas.

The Executive Chairman of Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, represented by the Executive Director – Operations, Barr. Frank Nwubu, flanked by other Executive Board members and representative of Nigeria leading payment switching and payment companies like etransact, were said to be in attendance during the ceremony. 

The Chief Executive, Nicolex Technologies, Mr. Aligbe Paul, who spoke shortly after the historic occasion, attributed the achievement, “to honest passion from a dedicated team of expertise in the IT sector and the constant desire to impact a better Nigeria, through the introduction of innovative technology to solve complex problems in the Nigerian public sector.”

He added: “I can recall that the technology was first deployed in the year 2022 by the Dr. Michael Tidi administration of Warri South Local Government in Delta State, to shore up revenue in Warri South Local Government Area.”
