Piero to Deltans: Advocate for transparency, accountability or remain in the trajectory of preceding administrations

The Labour Party, LP, Warri Federal Constituency House of Representatives candidate in the 2023 general elections, Young Piero O., has challenged Deltans to advocate for transparency, accountability and responsibility from the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori administration or face the trajectory of governance from preceding administrations.

Fresh Angle International can report that Young Piero O, who gave the charge in an electronic statement released last night in what he titled, “On this (Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori) administration (Part 1)’, opined: “The commitment of the current administration to substantive development is brought into question by the absence of a timetable for Local Government Elections in the 25 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Delta State.

“The apparent reluctance to conduct such elections is out of sight, under the leadership of His Excellency Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, suggests a lack of priority for practical development and political will to lead by example.”

The widely travelled politician, who was recently presented with the ‘Most Outstanding in Continental Trade Award’, by Organizers of the Africa Outstanding Professionals, at the recently held Business Executive summit in Nairobi, Kenya, added: “The recent events following the Federal and State Elections have captivated our attention, possibly diverting focus from the critical considerations in Delta State. As a native of Delta State, it is imperative to articulate that Delta should set a precedent through tangible actions, given its substantial allocation, human resources, talent, and internal revenue generation.

“Caution must be exercised by Deltans not to be swayed by reports of purported developments that lack practical manifestation, especially in light of unfulfilled assurances from political entities, notably the People's Democratic Party (PDP), which has governed the state since 1999.

“For reference, the 2021 Delta State local government elections, conducted on March 6, marked a significant event, introducing new electoral wards, following the creation of 34 wards in December 2020 by the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission. The preceding governor's administration oversaw this election process.

“A sincere advisory is extended to His Excellency Sheriff Oborevwori to exemplify leadership qualities and establish a pioneering standard. If, indeed, he sought divine guidance at Shiloh 2023, it is imperative to recognize that leadership is a bestowed gift, not an inherent right. Leaders must exercise due consideration for the lives affected by their decisions, acknowledging the inherently spiritual nature of leadership.”
