The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, has presented a budget estimate of Twenty-three Billion, Six Hundred and Seventy-One Million, One Hundred and Seventy-Seven Thousand, Two Hundred and Seventy-Three Naira, Forty-Five kobo (N23,671,177,273.45K) to the Warri South Council Legislative Arm.

The amount, which represents 61 percent increase, compared to the 2024 budget of the Council, is Nine Billion, Three Hundred and Thirteen Million, Three Hundred and Sixty-One Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty-Three Naira, Six Kobo (N9,313,361.153.6K) more than the 2024 Approved Budget.

Making the presentation Tuesday December 17 at the Council’s Legislative Chamber in Warri South Council Main Secretariat in Warri, Comr. Agbateyiniro, explained that the increase was as a result of the current economic reality caused by the Hyperinflation.

Breakdown of the 2025 fiscal proposal christened ‘Budget of Crystallization’ , revealed that Recurrent Expenditure (Consolidated Revenue Fund Charges, Personnel Cost and Overhead Cost) is Seven Billion Eight Hundred and Eighty-One Million, Nine Hundred And Twenty- Four Thousand, Seven Hundred And Seventy-Two Naira, Four Kobo (N7 881,924,772.04k) only, representing 33.30 percent of the total Budget Size, while Capital Expenditure Stands for Fifteen Billion, Seven Hundred and Eight-Nine Million, Two Hundred and Fifty-Two, Thousand, Five Hundred And Fitty-One Naira, Forty-One Kobo (N15,789.252,501.41k) only, representing 66.70 percent of the total budget.

The Warri South Local Government Boss, noted: “The increase in wages by the three tiers of government, is another major cause of the increase. As an administration that is new to the good people of Warri South, who elected us into this office, our social contract is the MORE GRACE Agenda, in this time of History.

‘By the Grace of God, we will not fail with our More Grace Agenda of this Administration, Morein terms, of giving our people, more dividends of true democracy and Grace in terms of growth and development, radical rural transformation, agricultural revolution, commerce and industrialization and enhancement of peace and security which are the core macroeconomic objectives of any good administration.

“Our priority remains to ensure macroeconomic stability through fiscal discipline and judicious allocation of resources, expand economic fronters create opportunities for our teaming youth, women and the general public through service efficiency for optimum service delivery and give support to the poor and vulnerable in our local government area.

“It's our wish that the expected cash inflow from statutory allocation from the Federal Government and our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) by God's special grace, will meet up with our proposed expenditure.

“It is my wish and desire that the expected funds will be available and all the enlisted projects will become a reality.

“This 2025 draft estimate is in-line with the state government MORE agenda of his Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori Executive Governor of Delta State for the Advancement of Delta State.

“Honourable Leaders and Councilors, I count on your speedy passage of the 2025 draft estimate.”

The Leader of Warri South Legislative Arm, Hon. Joy Ejumudo, in her response, assured Comr. Agbateyiniro that the House will judiciously and speedily pass the budget proposal, saying they can see the good agenda the Warri South Council Boss has for the people of Warri South Local Government Area.

Majority Leader of Warri South Legislative Arm, Hon. Tuoyo Ebigbeyi, immediately moved a motion that the budget proposal becomes a working document and the motion was seconded by Hon. Temile Solomon, even as the budget proposal, successfully scaled first reading during plenary.
