The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, says the ‘Award of Credence/Humanitarian Champion’ bestowed on him by the Forum of Civil Society Organisations in Nigeria, FCSON, was merited, saying his administration actually worked for it.

“I want to start by acknowledging the fact that by strength, shall no man prevail. When we started this race, though very demanding, putting pressure on every part of this local government, from the executive arm to the legislative arm.

“To all the departments, the pressure was visible. Nobody slept more than 2 or 3 hours per day. Today, we are living witness to the result of our tireless work within a few months.

“This is what democracy is all about. We see this as opportunity to radically revolutionise what local administration is all about in this country.

“When we stepped into this office, we were mindful of the fact that there will be competition among the other local governments in the country.

“To add to what you have captured there, we have also recently flagged -off the construction of a bridge. We have made up our minds that building a bridge by the local government, is possible. This to us is what service is all about.”

Comr. Peace Udoka Ndobu of Nigeria Progressive Women and Youth Development Initiative, a civil society group that is part of FCSON, had reeled out the academic profile of Comr. Agbateyiniro, previous positions he held and his monumental achievements as Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area.

Comr. Ndobu, amongst other key development strides, identified reconstruction of the burnt section of Igbudu Market, construction of the Omadino/Obodo Road, various human capital development programmes, construction of two modern abattoirs at Pessu Market, construction of 2 Modern Cold rooms at Pessu Market, Painting of all Kerbs across Warri South Local Government, daily clean-up of all roads and walk way in Warri and Clearing of water hyacinth from water ways, as notable achievements that necessitated the award.
