INDI disagrees with Awani, Otuedon over Tantita’s recent operation in Itsekiri communities

The Itsekiri National Development Initiative, INDI, has disagreed with the positions of Barr. Esimaje Awani and Dr. Martins Utuedon, which asserted that Tantita Security Service Nigeria Limited, recently raided some Itsekiri communities to fish out crude oil thieves and pipeline vandals.

The INDI in a statement made available to Fresh Angle International last night, Wednesday December 19, averred: “We categorically refute the assertions made by the duo of Esimaje Awani and Martins Otuedon that the invasion and raiding of Itsekiri communities by Tantita Security Service Nigeria Limited, was aimed at combating crude oil thieves or laced with ethnic connotation, as the statement is false, malicious, and an affront to the Itsekiri nation, and does not represent the views of the youths or Itsekiri.”

The group in a statement signed by its President, Comrade Dennis Mene, declared that the perceived attack on Itsekiris at Aja-Jelebe Community in Warri South Local Government Area and the purported “series of attacks on Itsekiri communities between November 29, 2024, and December 3, 2024, in Warri South LGA and Warri North LGA”, were not related to issues of crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

“There is no doubt that Tantita Security Service Nigeria Limited, was contracted by NNPC Limited as a private company to protect oil pipelines, yet it does not possess the constitutional powers to carry guns/ammunition or detain persons, nor can it be used to promote an Ijaw expansionist agenda in Warri South, Warri South-West, and Warri North LGAs.

“We avail ourselves of this opportunity to implore the government to regulate Tantita Security Service Nigeria Limited, as a private security entity cannot dominate the Nigerian Security Forces or the government, therefore, the government should wake up to its primary obligations, or we will wake them up”, INDI, emphasized.
