Tantita Security Services: Protecting Nigeria’s Pipelines Amid Baseless Accusations
Otuedon Ajueyitse Martins PhD

In recent times, certain individuals and groups have embarked on an unjust campaign aimed at tarnishing the image of Tantita Security Services, accusing the company of targeting specific communities under the guise of pipeline protection.

These claims, regrettably, are laced with ethnic undertones and seem orchestrated to distract from the company’s significant strides in combating crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

It is crucial to clarify that Tantita Security Services is a corporate entity entrusted with a contractual mandate to safeguard oil pipelines across Delta State. This noble responsibility is carried out with a commitment to professionalism and collaboration with Nigeria’s security agencies. The allegations of ethnic bias against Tantita are baseless and appear to be a deliberate ploy by oil thieves and their sympathizers to undermine the company’s efforts and divert public attention from their criminal activities.

Tantita’s Legal Mandate and Operational Framework

By its mandate, Tantita is authorized to investigate and respond to incidents of pipeline vandalism in any community. Working hand-in-hand with law enforcement agencies, Tantita’s role is to identify and apprehend suspects who are then handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution. Tantita does not detain suspects or adjudicate cases, as these fall outside its corporate purview.

The company’s workforce is drawn from diverse ethnic backgrounds, reflecting its inclusive philosophy. It is, therefore, disingenuous to portray Tantita as an ethnic organization. Such unfounded claims only serve to undermine the company’s commendable efforts in protecting Nigeria’s critical oil infrastructure.

The Positive Impact of Tantita’s Operations

Tantita’s contributions to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector cannot be overstated. Through its diligent efforts, Nigeria’s daily crude oil production has increased to 2,000 barrels, a remarkable achievement that directly benefits the nation’s economy. This milestone underscores the effectiveness of Tantita’s operations and the leadership of its Managing Director, High Chief Engr. Kestin Pondi, whose unwavering commitment has delivered tangible results.

Instead of vilifying Tantita, Nigerians should recognize and celebrate its success in safeguarding the nation’s wealth. The achievements of Tantita are a testament to the company’s dedication to national progress and its pivotal role in curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

A Call for Support

The battle against pipeline vandalism requires collective action. Communities and pressure groups must collaborate with Tantita and security agencies to rid their neighborhoods of oil thieves. The presence of Tantita personnel and security agents in any community is solely driven by incidents of vandalism. Once these criminal activities cease, there will be no need for such interventions.

This is an appeal to all well-meaning Nigerians to support Tantita Security Services in its mission to protect the nation’s pipelines and secure its economic future. Let us reject attempts to politicize or ethnicize the company’s operations. Together, we can build a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.
