Warri South: PDP reduced to carcass, as Tidi tells APC ' we are here to add value '

The Peoples Democratic Party in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, appears to have been reduced to carcass as the only strength left in the party, Dr. Michael Ejueyitse Tidi, on Sunday February 22, dumped the party and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.                                          

Dr. Tidi, who was the immediate past Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area and factional Delta State Secretary of the PDP, joined the APC with his supporters during a grandeur ceremony held at the popular Rice Farm, Esisi Road, Warri.                                  

The former two - time Warri South Local Government Chairman, told the large gathering of APC leaders and stakeholders, that he and his supporters, came to the party to add value, not to compete destructively.                                  

Dr. Tidi, a legal practitioner, declared: " This is where I belong, this is where my political families are. If my fathers, brothers and uncles are in a political party, what am I doing in the other side? It doesn't make sense at all.                          

" I am ready to hit the ground running for you people. I want to acknowledge the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac. He is capacity personified, he is not afraid to bring everyone on board.                        

 " We are grateful to be part of you again and I pray that God will prosper our party and our state. Strengthen our governor and to  the man who accelerated my political growth, Senator ( Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, my political story, is incomplete without him."                                  

Delta South APC Chairman, Mr. Austin Oribioye, who also addressed the gathering of party faithful, stated: " Today, we have a very important personality, who came with his people, they have come to join us to give us more strength, direction and all that it takes to make the party stronger as well as win elections when the time comes.                                      

" During his tenure as Council Chairman, he showed capacity and I am very happy to be here as senatorial chairman of the party.                                              

"I  want to officially hand over Dr. Michael Tidi to our LGA party chairman, Hon. Richard Pessu. Let it be known today that as he comes in, he's entitled to all privileges and rights of the party."                                        

The new Chairman of APC in Warri South Local Government, Hon. Richard Pessu, in his remarks, said Dr. Tidi, returned to a winning team and immediately handed him over to the ward chairman at Edjjeba, for formal registration.                                

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, on his part, proclaimed : " What we have seen here today, is the final collapse of opposition in Warri South.                                    

 " For somebody of the status of Secretary of PDP in the state to move into the APC, you know it is over for opposition exercise in Warri South,                                      

 " I want to congratulate Barr. (Dr ) Michael Tidi, for taking this very bold decision. You are welcome to this great family, we are all equals in this party, be rest assured you and your followers, will be carried along."
