Shamar School celebrates cultural, creative arts in practical examination


 

Shamar School located off Udu road in Warri, Delta State recently celebrated cultural and creative Arts practically in examination. The celebration which attracted parents, guardians and important personalities afforded opportunities for children in the school to showcase their various ethnic cultures and creativities.

At the opening ceremony the sitting chairperson of the Board, Ambassador (Dr.) Mrs. Onyi Ikemefuna stated that the school which is widely noted to be a place with vision to see, listen, love, care and educate is set to educate and create a world for children and giving them hope for the future.  She disclosed that in the history of Nigeria, Shamar School is the first to showcase cultural and creative Arts in practical examination.

Among the ethnic groups that showcase their culture and innovativeness at the ceremony were the Igbos, Yorubas’, Hausas, Urhobos and Edos. Their cultural dances, traditional food and dressing styles were displayed. Prizes were given to the groups based on the report from a panel judges.

The school also recently held its 2019 graduation ceremony which also attracted a cream of notable people in the society. The opening prayer was said by Pastor Ifeanyi Palmer of Gospel Harvest Assembly in Warri.

The chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council was the chairman of the occasion, Hon. Ramson Tega Onoyake but was represented by his senior special Assistants Hon. Christian Eshenake.

In a prepared speech deliver on his behalf. Hon. Onoyake commended Mrs. Ikemefuna for her outstanding work of excellence towards the growth of the school saying that ever since the establishment of the school the community and the LGA chair have been duly recognized. He observed that “education is the most powerful weapon that can be used to change the world” adding that education in a nation must not only be available but it must be qualitative if it seeks to develop and improve the lives of its citizens.

In closing remark Mrs. Ikemefuna thanked all dignitaries present, teachers and learners for their contributions towards the success of the occasion.

Dignitaries present at both occasions include chief Francis Odeje, the Ofugba of Udu Kingdom, and his wife Matha Odeje, C.E.O of Beji Court Hotel sir (Olorogun) Tito Kedo, Mr. Fred Agah (PTPF Director) C.L.E Uvwie LGA Mrs. Jane Oki, president of Ohaneze Ndigbo Delta Central/South, Chief Hon. Ambassador Eze and other seven (7) members of his executive council, Mazi 1 of FUPRE, Mbonu Mfe Raphael and members of his council as well.
