People of Odion Community in Warri South Local Government Area, have called on Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to immediately execute internal road projects in the community, saying “lack of access roads, has led to significant security challenges” in the area.
In a letter addressed to the Governor and made available to Fresh Angle International, Tuesday January 14, the leadership of Odion Community, proclaimed: “Our community lacks government presence in its entirety. We lack access roads, walkable drainage, security light and potable water, amongst other basic amenities, despite being in Warri city centre.”
The Odion Community in the letter signed by their Head; Pa. Emmanuel Kakayi Esimaje, Trust Chairman; Chief Adawilliams Oritseronojo, Secretary; Mr. Godwin Oburoh, Youth Chairman; Mr. Festus Tonwe and Public Relations Officer; PRO, Mr. Ogbemi Edah, noted: “We are reaching out to Your Excellency on behalf of Odion, a pioneer Community in Warri South Local Government Area, with more than one thousand, five hundred residents. We are in dire need of your assistance.
“We're aware that government construct and develop roads, mapped out by communities and we have two to three roads that have been manageably maintained locally by the community. Some of these roads have been blocked by buildings.
Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori
“This can be attested to through the survey map of the area. That's why we're counting on your support to open up our community for development.
“The lack of access roads, has led to significant security challenges for our people and we're struggling to survive.
“We urge you to use your good offices, under the M.O.R.E Agenda, to help our community, because this led to our involvement in PDP agenda, right from Chief James Ibori's government, from 1999 till date, yet we get nothing in return, hence we are crying out.
“Your intervention would bring immense relief and development to our area.”
