President of Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, Engr. (Sir) Otis Oliver Tabugbo Anyaeji says the biggest problem facing Nigeria is the closure of factories which should serve as sources of raw materials and not failed infrastructures as generally believed.
Engr. Otis Anyaeji made the declaration at the Osubi Airstrip near Warri, Delta State, Friday September 16 in a chat with Newsmen on arrival for an annual dinner /induction ceremony organized by the Warri branch of Nigerian Society of Engineers.
The NSE President averred that if the country fails to get it right by reopening comatose factories like Delta Steel Company, DSC, Petrochemical plants as well as the government owned refineries, the challenge of tackling infrastructural decay will linger because there won't be sources of raw materials.
While canvassing for partnership with the media in the quest by NSE to address the Nation's infrastructural challenge, Engr. Anyaeji noted that engineering practice in Nigeria is hampered by professionals in political positions and not lack of involvement in politics by engineers.
Our Correspondent reports that the Warri Branch Chairman of NSE, Engr. Joseph Eghwrudje and prominent members of the society in the area were on hand to receive Engr. Anyaeji at the Osubi Airstrip.
