The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, has ordered Warri South Council Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Femi Okorodiden, to immediately ensure the issuance of abatement notices to property owners emptying sewage and sullage on Ekurede Itsekiri Road, Warri.

The Warri South Local Government Boss, handed down the order Saturday February 22, while monitoring the monthly environmental sanitation exercise. Comrade Agbateyiniro, who was joined in the monitoring by Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro, Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Kingsley Edafiadjebre, some councillors, supervisors and Warri South Council Head of Environment Department, Mrs. Stella Mode, also urged the Warri South Council Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Femi Okorodiden, to convene a meeting of the PSP operator in the Ekurede Itsekiri/ Ugbori axis, representatives of the twin communities and other critical stakeholders by Monday, to fashion out ways of stopping further dumping of refuse on the canal at Ekurede Itsekiri/ Ugbori.

He also instructed the Supervisor to work with Youth leaders of Ekurede Itsekiri , Ugbori, Ubeji and Ifekporo , with a view to engaging some community people to improve the sanitary situation across the communities. Meanwhile, the Warri South Local Government Council Environmental Sanitation Mobile Court presided over by Chief Magistrate Elohor Tunde - Smooth, today arraigned 33 persons for flouting the three - hour restriction order announced by the Delta State government.

Whilst nine persons were discharged, 18 were committed to community service and the remaining six offenders paid fine, ranging from two to five thousand naira each.
