Pirates storm federal lawmaker’s home, made away with passport 19 boat
Hon. Mutu

Gunmen suspected to be pirates have stormed Akugbene, a riverine community in Bomadi local government area, carting away a passport 19 with double Yamaha 85 outboard engines belonging to the member representing Bomadi/Patani federal constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Nicholas Mutu.

Our Bomadi Correspondent reports that the heavily armed pirates, who invaded the traditional seat of power of Akugbene Mein kingdom at the wee hours of Thursday November 22, took away the boat belonging to the lawmaker after shooting sporadically to scare people around.

It was reliably gathered that a member of the gang is an indigene of Akugbene community and is known by people of the community, while the rest members of the gang are believed to be from the neighboring Okubo-Ama, a community in Ughelli South local government area.
A statement from the palace of Akugbene Mein kingdom which was made available to newsmen condemned the invasion in strong terms, describing it as wicked.
It statement tasked the relevant security agencies to fish out the criminals and bring them to book.
The statement further revealed that a delegation headed by the Akugbene community chairman, Mr. Jebba Ebidemi was sent to Okuba-Ama community to issue a one week ultimatum to produce the pirates and the two engines.
Fresh Angle gathered from a source that the pirates who hit the community about 2am later abandoned the boat after removing the engines. The boat was later found floating in the river without the engines.
Our Bomadi Correspondent reports that the delegation from the monarch’s palace to the neighbouring community encountered a suspicious boat with some engines and an armed gang identified by them on their way from Okubo-Ama.
A source told Fresh Angle that when the delegation approached the moving boat, members of the gang pointed gun at them, threatening to shoot if they attempt to get closer and the suspected pirates immediately escaped through Okwagbe River.
