Stakeholders call for bye-law to stop importation of used tyres

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps Special Marshals, FRSC, the Nigeria Navy, Nigeria Airforce, Nigeria Police Force and other stakeholders have called for the enactment of a bye-law to stop the importation of used tyres, saying it is one of the measures to reduce auto crashes in Nigeria.

This was part of the fallout of the 2017 sectoral workshop organized Wednesday December 6 in Warri, by the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC Special Marshals RS.5.2 Delta State Command.

The stakeholders who identified potholes, excessive alcohol consumption, distractive driving and auto mechanics as other factors responsible for road accidents in Nigeria, stressed on the need to intensify efforts at combatting gory road incidents in the country.

In his opening remarks, the Delta State Coordinator FRSC Special Marshal, Mr. Dickson Amromawhe noted that road users who have shown zeal towards road safety will be rewarded accordingly.

Harriman Isah Oyofo.
